$4,600 or $460 per month with Art Money! Artwork Size: 41 x 29.5 in "Waggle Dance" is a watercolor-on-paper painting by Cuban artist Carlos Gamez de Francisco. In this piece, the artist depicts hundreds of colorful beetles forming an intricate, decorative pattern. Francisco was inspired by the form of communication between honeybees called the waggle dance, in which the bees perform a particular movement to indicate the direction of a food source. Insects in various states of flight often appear in Francisco's paintings. Insects flying up represent freedom, insects flying down or falling represent chaos, and insects at rest represent balance between the two. "Waggle Dance" expands on this idea to explore how balance can be achieved through communication and teamwork.
