What is Art Consignment?

Art Consignment refers to the process of selecting an art gallery, like Chauvet Arts, to display, market, and sell artwork on your behalf. By choosing to consign with Chauvet Arts, you gain access to our established clientele, advertising and marketing, and the expertise of our in-house Art Consultants. We’re excited to have your work in our Downtown gallery!

What type of artwork does Chauvet consign?

Chauvet Arts is proud to consign a variety of artwork including paintings, sculptures, prints, fine art photography, and mixed media pieces. We focus on works that align with our mission to inspire the world with art and empower artists. Often times we do not accept artwork if we feel that it does not align with our mission, does not have potential to sell with our clientele, or a variety of other reasons.

How do I submit artwork for consignment with Chauvet?

To submit artwork for consignment consideration, please fill out our online submission form below with images and information about the artwork. The more information, history, and provenance that you know about the piece, the easier it is for us to assess the work! Please include any supporting documents, such as letters of authenticity or past bills of sale, as these help our team assess the piece and determine the most accurate price. Please note any existing damage that may exist on the work, as well. Our team will carefully review your submission and contact you to move forward with the process!

What happens when Chauvet accepts and sells the artwork for consignment?

Once your artwork is accepted for consignment, it will be housed and displayed in our Downtown Nashville gallery and marketed to potential buyers through our website, social media, and individualized client outreach. If your artwork sells, we will handle the transaction and notify you of the sale!

How is the sale split between the gallery and consignee?

Each consignee will receive a standard 40/60 split of the final sale price. With 40% to consignee and 60% Chauvet unless otherwise established on the agreement. All sales prices are contractually established between Chauvet Arts and the consignee as part of the initial consignment agreement.

How does the consignee get paid?

The consignee has the option to receive a mailed check or an emailed e-check. The payment will be sent by the 15th of the month following the sale.
