Our latest exhibition, Civilization: From Rococo to Retro, is now open, and we are thrilled to spotlight the works of Jason Brueck, one of the standout artists featured in this collection alongside Denise Stewart-Sanabria. Brueck's captivating pieces merge vivid imagination with a striking commentary on the intersection of humanity, history, and futuristic ideals. He invites viewers into a world where boundaries between classical influences and modern aesthetics blur, creating narratives that are both thought-provoking and visually stunning.
Jason Brueck's Stay Golden combines a gothic royal aesthetic with contemporary artistry. Framed in ornate gold, the piece features a skeletal figure wearing a golden crown, surrounded by dark antique background and skeletal motifs. With its gold coloring and bold textures, Stay Golden teaches us about contemporary pop art and its potentials.
MEET THE ARTIST
Jason Brueck is a digital media artist based in Nashville, TN. His art is inspired by the combination of found and original images to create surrealist landscapes. Jason Brueck’s astronaut series began when he was just a kid, with a studio photoshoot between him and his brother.
Brueck convinced his brother and a friend to “play astronaut” for a day and conducted the shoot. Brueck then transposed the photos into various settings to represent the exploration of the surrealist landscapes he creates.
Jason Brueck | Live, Laugh, Love | Digital Print with Gold Leaf Embellishment (Framed) | 48 x 38 x 2 in | $2,000
Encased in an ornate, gilded frame reminiscent of classical portraiture, Live, Laugh, Love combines vintage opulence with modern-day symbolism. At its center, an astronaut serves as a haunting yet regal focal point. The rich textures, gold accents, and celestial motifs create a surreal narrative that bridges the past and the present. Brueck masterfully reinterprets historical aesthetics with a contemporary edge, making this work both striking and thought-provoking.
