Flowers for a Modern World invites viewers into a space where color, texture, movement, and emotion exist together in a way that feels both contemporary and deeply human.
Through layered compositions and expressive surfaces, Daryl Thetford creates work that feels alive from every angle.
What makes this body of work especially compelling is the way it transforms a room. These are not simply paintings meant to fill a wall. They became part of the environment itself, changing the feeling of a space through scale, color, and presence.
Recently, Daryl visited downtown Nashville for a special artist talk at Chauvet Arts, where collectors, visitors, and members of the local community gathered to experience Flowers for a Modern World in a more personal way. Throughout the evening, Daryl shared insight into his creative process, speaking about the layers, textures, movement, and emotional energy that shape his paintings. Guests had the opportunity to hear directly from the artist about how each piece develops over time through experimentation, intuition, and carefully built surfaces.
Art changes the atmosphere of a room, but more importantly, it changes the way we experience a space. A painting can inspire, create calmness, spark creativity, and bring people together through shared experience.
Supporting living artists also means supporting human expression itself, every texture, and layer represents time, love and years of dedication to a craft.
